Design Action Teams on the Coast

The Oregon Coastal Futures Project offered professional services to help local sponsors design and implement a project to make a positive contribution to the quality of life in a coastal community and serve as a model for other coastal communities.

A Design Action Team was assembled to work with local sponsors to produce conceptual design solutions and recommendations to address the unique challenges and opportunities of the particular project, dubbed the Garibaldi Connections Project.

In selecting a project, preference was given to those nominated projects that:

• Strengthen community identity and sense of place

• Promote people-oriented, sustainable design, and transportation and housing options to address coastal design and development challenges

• Enhance or protect farm or forest lands or scenic and natural areas

• Serve as models for projects elsewhere in coastal communities

• Are replicable in other coastal communities

• Demonstrate a likelihood of being implemented

Garibaldi Connections Project Timeframe

Follow-Up

Coastal Futures Project staff will be available for limited consultation during implementation of Design Action Team recommendations after the Team has submitted its final report.
