Demographic Data

American Fact Finder
The most straightforward and easy to use website for census data. Data are presented in tables pertaining to different subject areas on a county and sometimes community basis. The best way to access these data is to go to the "data sets" webpage (a link is located on the left side of the page). Data are also available from the 1990 census, but for fewer subjects.

CenStats Databases
Contains a number of databases that are much more specific and have a greater number of variables than the American Fact Finder site. Data are available on a county and community basis in such areas and subjects as building permits (updated each month), employment, economic indicators, demographics (age and race/ethnicity), income, housing, crime, poverty, health, and others. These data are difficult to compile, however, because they are not presented in readily accessible tables like other census data. This site is recommended when it is necessary to delve deeper into a specific subject.

Population Research Center (Portland State University)
Contains current population data for Oregon and links to a variety of GIS layers on other websites.
